Looking at the Panasonic TX-P42X10The Panasonic TX-P42X10 is a top choice for those who are looking for a large TV for watching films or playing video games. However, it is also a great choice for those who do not have a lot of cash to spend but also want to get the most out of the advantages of a higher end home entertainment system. With a wide screen aspect ratio and 42 inches viewing size, the TX-P42X10 is about as big as you would want for watching movies. Although slightly bulkier than other televisions of its size, it does come with a wide array of features which make it a very attractive option if you are considering buying a decent quality centrepiece for your new home cinema system. One of the most attractive factors in the specification of the TX-P42X10 is that it has a refresh rate of 100 Hz. Normally, flat TVs have a maximum refresh rate of 50 Hz. If this doesn’t mean anything to you, 100 Hz basically means there is going to be far less flickering on the screen and the image is going to appear smoother regardless of what you are playing whether it is video games, older lower definition video content of the latest in high definition content. One thing of note which may be off putting to some people, is at the Panasonic TX-P42X10 is not full HD. This means that it does not have the highest resolution to allow playback of the latest in high definition content of its native resolution. Rather, the screen is actually HD ready but in all honesty, many viewers will not even noticed the difference with a slight lack of resolution. Instead, quality is more important and this screen certainly has good picture processing techniques to compensate. With the ability to help minimise flickering in being a lot easier on your eyes, the 100 Hz refresh rate is definitely a defining point in the decision of whether or not you should buy the TX-P42X10. Panasonic also deploys is revolutionary technology which allows the screen to be far more versatile than many competing models. That is to say, the screen will automatically alter its contrast settings depending on the light in the room to make it look better. Another very welcome feature to the TX-P42X10 in addition to all its normal connectivity options that you would expect, is the addition of an SD card reader. This means that you can simply take the SD card out of any digital camera, slot it into the screen and view your images immediately without having to worry about messing around with any cables. The TX-P42X10 also has some pretty impressive built in audio capabilities but to be honest, if you are spending this sort of money on a screen, you probably want to upgrade to a decent surround sound speakers system anyway which are render the built in speakers obsolete. Nonetheless, it is a welcome addition if you are short on space. Concluding this, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X10 performed quite well all round and you also don’t have to worry about the added disadvantage is that LCD TVs tend to have such as a limited viewing angle.
