Liking the Denon DBP4010UDCI Blu-ray player is easy enough to do after spending a little bit of time evaluating its capabilities and functions. As a high-priced player, it sits at the upper end of the market and isn’t really inexpensive. But those same functions and features mean that the performance put out by the Denon will be top-notch across the board. This makes price slightly more palatable it should be said.

This particular Blu-Ray player is one of several in Denon’s lineup at the upper end of the player spectrum of the market and is a universal player, which means that it’s capable of playing all of the popular types of discs for music and movies now out, with the exception of what are called “no analog balanced audio output” types of discs. In all, this means the player will deliver sound as outstanding as the pictures that it also puts out.

This picture quality is also sharp and clear across all evaluation spectrum and the player is especially adept at taking dark action scenes and cleaning them up to the point where they are extremely crisp and precise. Additionally, definition along all edges is also very clear and sharp. There is really no evidence of any smearing, tearing or jaggedness, too.

Coming in at nearly $2000, it’s obviously clear that the Denon DBP4010UDCI Blu-ray player isn’t for the fiscally-challenged or weak at heart when it comes to a Blu-Ray player. However, it delivers features, functions and capabilities that approach the level of the company’s flagship player, which costs nearly twice that. For anyone on the market for a universal disc player of high quality, it would seem that this Denon is a real candidate.
