Finding an Affordable Speaker System for your Home TheaterThere’s the old saying, “you get what you pay for” and many would insist that going cheap on speakers for your home theater will end up with a disappointing result. However, after doing my research I’ve come across several surround-sound speakers priced below $400 that will completely surprise you. If you’re looking to add a sound system to enhance your favorite TV shows and you’re on a budget, I have a solution for you. I recently came across a great speaker system in this price range and I’ll discuss the low-down in this article. I’ll also discuss some options for the future as you get the urge to expand your system, bigger and beyond the stock option I’ll discuss. The system that I was most surprised by is the Fluance AVHTB+. This speaker system can be purchased for approximately $200. What’s unique about these speakers and makes it so cost effective is that they don’t rely on a sub-woofer to deliver the deep tones of the bass. These speakers are large which allowed them to include the delivery of the low frequency sounds in the front-channel speakers. These full-range speakers were a surprise to me and many others as they perform at a much higher quality than expected based on their price. These speakers are made with solid wood and protected with a magnetic protection so they can be positioned nearby the TV. These solid wood speakers stand tall at 33 inches. It was very common to see speakers this large back in the day and they also weigh 27 pounds. This also makes the two front-channel speakers unique and affordable. Now if you’re really into bass, you may want to consider adding a sub-woofer. You can purchase a sub-woofer for approximately $200 to go with this system. If you’re room is 250 square feet or smaller, than the two front-channel speakers will do just fine. If the rooms on the larger side, than it would be a good investment to add on if you’re into the bass. It doesn’t stop with the addition of a sub-woofer. If you find you want to add to your system and bring the sounds to another level, you can add Fluance’s rear-channel speakers. These can be purchased for $100 each (approximately) and now you’ll have a six or seven channel surround sound system. I came across other options during my search, but this was my favorite of the affordable options. There’s definitely a large selection available and before you make any decisions, please shop around. I also suggest going into the store to test the sound before ordering as well. Hopefully you enjoy your new surround sound system as much as I enjoy mine!
