When it comes to comedy, the Everybody Loves Raymond tv show set a precedent. Some episodes were also based on the experiences of the writers involved in creating the show. Everybody Loves Raymond’s characters are also influenced by real-life counterparts in the lives of Romano and Rosenthal.

Aired on CBS on the 13th of September, 1996, Everybody Loves Raymond went on become a big hit with audiences contributing to an extension of its lifespan to 9 seasons in all. The final season ended on the 16th of May, 2005, a little short of a decade later.

The show’s main character Raymond Barone works for a newspaper in Long Island, covering all the local sporting events. Ray’s sense of humor often gets the best of him in most situations causing problems when his jokes are seen as insensitive in the midst of serious situations and problems. Debra (Patricia Heaton) his wife, Ally their daughter and Michael and Geoffrey their twin sons make up the rest of the family. Living right across the street from Ray and his family are his parents Frank and Marie and his sibling Robert.

Raymond’s wife, Debra has a hard time dealing with her mother-in-law almost all of the time. This is due to the fact that Marie, the mother of Raymond, has such volatile remarks about anything. Aside from this, she is always on the lookout for Raymond. Her preference towards Raymond as her favorite son invokes negative feelings in Robert which results in fights between the brothers. In spite of all the little troubles bothering the brothers, it can never be denied that the bond between them will always remain unbroken.

Frank, the father of Raymond was described as an openly sarcastic person to every person he met. In spite of being rude and unrefined Frank had a big heart. Additional spice of the story was the constant conflict between Ray and Debra. The marriage life of Raymond was full of spices from time to time he had a quarrel with his wife. Like for instance, Ray was most of time pre occupied giving time on watching sports events that was broadcasted on TV, neglecting the most essential issues like marriage life. As a form of revenge Debra deprived Ray of the conjugal sex.
