On the other hand, the owner of the farm, Tweety’s purchased a machine to make chicken pies and intend to cook all the chickens of the farm. But were Ginger and her friends’ fortunate enough to fly away from the farm? Did she escape or she too became one of those ‘chicken pies’? The Chicken Run movie is a real classy entertainer. It is a real family entertainer and should be enjoyed by all in the family. The dialogues in the film are very good and a special mention must be made of all the voice givers given in the movie. Mel Gibson is the voice of Rocky and he is simply outstanding. With her new found feline abilities, Patience begins her quest to exact revenge on the company boss which is played by the beautiful Sharon Stone. Sharon Stone’s acting is deplorable to say the least. The fact the she does not shed clothes in this film only adds to the woes of the audience. One of the major sore points of the film is the laughable costume worn by Halle Berry. Her funny costume does not evoke any positive response from the viewers at all. The CGI graphics which shows the Catwoman sliding down the buildings looks more like a videogame scene and it is surprising that ‘Pitof’ allowed such scenes in the final cut. This was not expected from someone who himself was visual effects specialist.

The Catwoman movie has no real entertainment value. The film is definitely a low budget production from the stables of the Warner Bros. Probably they hoped that people will flock to the cinema halls to catch a glimpse of Halle Berry and the production company will make money in the process.

The scriptwriter of the Catwoman movie should be sent to the gallows for even thinking of writing this one. However, the film does become watchable whenever Benjamin Bratt enters the scene. The powers exhibited by the Catwoman are probably the worst of all. It fails to incite any awe or excitement from the viewers. The main fault in the film lies with the storyline. The whole action revolves around some beauty products. This is totally unthinkable. To top it all the action scenes in the film are very appalling to say the least. This is probably the most pathetic movie of 2004. It’s hard to believe that this is the same year which gave us a movie called Torque. There are films which are worse than this and there would be many which would be as lousy as this film but the manner in which Warner Bros ahs promoted this sick movie has really surprised us all.

In terms of performance the less said the better. Halle Berry is bad and laughable. She is not the same academy award winning actress of Monsters Ball. Sharon Stone, on the other hand, is simply disgusting and you get a feeling that compared to her Dolph Lundgren is a far better actor. This is unbelievable but true. The only saving grace in the film is the acting of Benjamin Bratt and Alex Borstein.

Even Spielberg will fail to do that. The movie has a good depth which die-hard movie goers will simply relate to.

The Watchman movie starts with the murder of the Comedian in a long action scene. The next 160 minutes is full of mind-blowing action and the viewers too are introduced to the Minutemen. The story is simply told so that even newcomers won’t find it difficult to follow.

The main characters in the film get introduced as the film progresses and each one is given maximum screen space possible so that the audience gets acquainted with each one of them. The performances of the actors are really good and Patrick Wilson deserves a special mention. His role as Dan Dreiber has earned him accolades all over. Malin Akerman as Silk Spectre II was also very impressive.

Trust Pierre Morrel to deliver an action thriller that will leave you speechless for the duration of the movie. He does just that. The film is very tense and action filled right from the start. Pierre manages to bring out a superlative performance from all the actors including seasoned actors like Liam Neeson.

A divorced ex – CIA operative named Bryan Mills is over protective about her daughter Kim (Maggie Grace). Though he initially refused but ultimately gives in and signs the consent form to allow her daughter to travel to Paris with her friend Amanda. So she arrives in Paris with her friend but is abducted from the apartment where they are staying by a group of unknown young men. Before she gets nabbed she just had the time to give a brief description of the abductors to her father over the cell phone.

The Taken movie moves into top gear after this and the highlight of the movie is perhaps the conversation between Bryan and one of the kidnappers. Bryan gives a clear warning to the person and told him that he will get killed if his daughter is not returned by him. “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you”

Just after this the pace of the movie changes and we see high voltage action from now on. Bryan is able to follow leads and pin down one guy after another and comes menacingly close to the main culprits. The desperation of a father is clearly shown as Liam threatens one of the bad guys over the phone in clear terms “I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you”.

Bryan moves into Paris and starts looking for his daughter and what follows are world class action scenes and some superb editing. The guy who has done the editing for this film should be given a special award for this film. Some scenes of the movie will remind you of the Bourne movies and the Arnold Schwarzenegger starred Commando. But this a much better film than these two.

The film showcases some real good performances from all the actors. One of the better performances comes from Liam Neeson and Maggie Grace. Liam Neeson as a desperate father gives a brilliant performance and this role is quite different from the kind of roles he has essayed before. Maggie Grace is convincing as her daughter but has very little to do in a film which is action oriented.

The film should appeal to even those who are not big fans of action thrillers. In fact you should watch the movie for Liam Neeson alone. But he does not remember who or where he is. He has bullet wounds in his back and a bank account number is embedded in the hip. On regaining consciousness he travels to Switzerland to get his belongings from the bank vault – his passports, pile of cash and a gun. At this point the viewers are pretty sure that he is not an ordinary guy.

He is confused as to why the CIA wants to finish him off. He began searching for answers and in this dangerous mission his companion is Marie, his love interest. He is hell bent on finding out why his life has taken a perilous turn. The film has a huge share of action scenes and is a very fast paced one too.

The Bourne Identity movie is a highly entertaining thriller with lots of action scenes and lots of martial arts on display. There is absolutely nothing in the movie that can be termed as unnecessary or overdone. The romance between Julia Stiles and Matt Damon is always hinted but never shown at an extreme point. There are no overt sexual scenes to titillate the audience. The film holds its own through a powerful storyline and stellar performances.

The car chase scenes are the highlights of this movie. After a long time we see a film which is so sleek in production. People will not be bored in watching the action sequences as there is a feeling of something new in these scenes.

The two major disappoints in the movie would be the shortened role for Julia Stiles and Clive Owen. The former has nothing to do in the film while Clive has only a couple of good scenes.

This is a movie which is just too good to miss. I hope the local DVD store has many copies of this wonderful movie. But to avoid all tensions I suggest that you watch The Bourne Identity online free. MTV Films and DreamWorks joined hands to release Blades of Glory in the year 2007. It was written by Jeff Cox, Craig Cox and Busy Philips and produced by Ben stiller, Stuart cornfield and john Jacobs. And the acknowledgement of directing Blades of glory goes to Will Speck and josh Gordon. This comedy movie was released on DVD and HD DVD.

The movie begins with the tie between two ice skaters for the gold medal at the world winter sports games. Chazz Michael Michaels done by Will Ferrell and Jimmy McElroy done by Jon Heder play the rival skaters. The character of Michael is an expert skater though has a sex addiction and McElroy is kind of effeminate. The duo end up in a fight by arguing and hence are banned and disqualified from the game. This event causes McElroy’s father disinheriting him and he is thrown into the streets.

The movie then shows the status of two men after few years. Jimmy works in a winter sports product store and gets relegated for tying up a kid’s skates boot lace tightly and Chazz works at a children’s skate show. He is fired as he is found drunk on stage. In between the years chazz has put a lot of flab and looks plumpy.

Hector a stalker tells jimmy about a pair skating competition and the ways to get into it though he is banned. Jimmy who is convinced approaches his guide Robert. He then searches for a partner only to find Chazz. Both being reluctant, Robert convinces them and they decide to participate as same sex pair skaters.

The duo of jimmy and Chazz are kept an eye on by Katie caste by Jenna Fischer who happens to be the younger sister of a brother and sister pair, Stranz and Fairchild done by Will Arnett and Amy Poehler respectively. The brother and sister duo are believed to be threat to other pairs, have a fear of the new duo, who are highly skilled. Katie though spies them at first starts falling in love with jimmy later.

Chazz and jimmy get a strong bonding and travel through till the U.S Figure skating championships. This helps them with a chance of participating in the winter sports games again. Robert their coach announces them that they can get to win only by mastering a technique called iron lotus invented by him. He also adds on that the technique has not been performed since a partner ended up beheading his pair with the blades of his skates while performing in North Korea.

She returns home to find further misery in the form of rejection letter from Princeton University. The original Friday the 13th was a runaway hit. So when the trailers of the new version hit the screens people were already curious. The fans of blood and gore had some real high expectations. The Friday the 13th series is very simple and you need not tax your brains to understand the story. You will see a lot of groups going to the woods to have a good time but losing their precious lives in the bargain. This is all thanks to a hockey mask wearing killer lurking in the woods in the name of Jason. Apart from the usual machete, he resorts to number of weapons like bear traps, bow and arrow, ice pick, axe et al. Don’t expect a brilliant storyline or any exceptional acting when you go to watch this film.

The film will be a huge hit with teenagers as it has a good deal of violence, sex scenes and chases. But these are all what makes a good bloody horror film. Underworld fans will really love the latest movie ‘Rise of the Lycans’ as it has all the mix of blood, gore and adventure. The story takes a turn when Viktor comes to know about their love affair. Lucian with the help of Lycan slaves stages a rebellion against Viktor so that he can lead a happy life with Sonja. They book a villa for the four at the Caesar’s palace hotel and casino, and they sneak to the roof of the hotel where they toast for the night of enjoyment waiting for them. The next thing happens is them waking up in their suite with no memory of what happened since the toast. And the worst is that Doug goes missing.

Before they come to any conclusions they get a lot of clues on what they did the night before which includes a messed up suite, a baby crying in the closet, tiger in the bathroom, credit card bill of $800, Phil wearing a hospital band on his wrist and Stu missing a tooth. They also witness a mattress being removed from a statue of the hotel outside and the most hilarious happens to be the patrol car brought by the valet driver.

They unravel the events by taking note of the clues and end up with the hospital first. Were the doctor informs them about finding traces of the drug Flunitrazepam in Phil’s blood which says that others might also have been drugged and adds that it might be the cause for their loss of memory of the night’s happenings. Meanwhile they get another lead from the doc and find that Stu had married a stripper called Jade (Heather Graham) who is the mother of the baby and to the dismay of Stu who was about to propose to his taunting girlfriend Melissa (Rachel Harris).

Things go awry as Asian gangsters attack them asking for ‘where is he’ all the time. They miraculously escape from them and end up with the police, when they go to jade’s apartment as they think the thugs referred to the baby. How they escape from the police and get their vintage convertible back and how they trace out their own whereabouts of the previous night forms the story. The climax answers the question how they get Doug back and how they find him.

The G-Force movie, a family flick is written by Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, the husband and wife team who have in the past delivered many hits like National Treasure, Bad Boys II etc. This movie is going to be asure shot hit with both the kiddies and grown-ups alike. While in the pet shop, the guinea pigs meet a crazy hamster (Steve Buscemi), who is partly a ferret and Hurley (voiced by Jon Favreau) another guinea pig that is chubby together they set out to get revenge.

After escaping from the pet shop, the rodents and the mole along with their new found friends aim to head toward Sabar so that they can foil his deadly plans. This part on the action begins. The aliens are four in number, commanded by Skip (J.K.Simmons’ voice) a warrior Razor who is a girl (Kari Wahlgren’s voice), muscular Tazer (Voiced by Thomas Church) and Sparks (Voiced by Josh Peek). The action is not too graphic which is a pleasant change for children movies.

Parents, Kevin Nealon and Gillian Vigman decide to go on a fishing vacation to their lake home in Michigan accompanied by their children. They have three of them, Carter Jenkins (who is a brainy child but fails in math), Ashley Tisdale (who has an annoying, creepy boyfriend Robert Hoffman) and Ashley Boettcher (whose primary role in the movie is to look adorable). Their relatives, family number two, consisting of the dad (Andy Richter), a beer drinker, a grandmother an off centred woman (Doris Roberts), a male teen (Austin Butler) and a pair of identical twins (Henri and Regan Young) join them.

The aliens target the adults by injecting them on the neck and then controlling their movements and minds. The children are left alone because they are immune to this device. It is up to the children to rescue the world. Robert Hoffman is one of the first adults to get implanted by this device. His remote control somehow finds its way in to the children’s hands who use it to make Robert slap himself, dance, twist, jerk and flip his body and then cannonball in to many embarrassing situations.

When it comes to animation films only two names come to mind – Walt Disney and Hayao Miyazaki. The latter has made some really good animated movies like “Spirited Away” and “Princess Mononoke”. So much was expected from Ponyo. However, the film is a big letdown. The kids might like the film as it is an anime but the adults will straight away reject it. The plot has no character and there is not a single wherein the film can earn some real good points.

The film is inspired by Hans Christain Anderson’s “The Little Mermaid”. The plot of the film is thus: a goldfish falls in love with a human boy and she hopes to become a girl so that she can live with the boy happily ever after. It is a simple love story that has been poorly told.

Mr. Miyazaki totally disappoints with this movie. It is hard to believe that he is the same man who directed classics like “Spirited Away” and “Howl’s Moving Castle”. Ponyo is nowhere these great films and one wonders why Mr Miyazaki erred while making Ponyo. The animation is good but nothing to write about and we fear the audience might lose interest after the initial 30 minutes or so.

The main drawback of the Ponyo movie is the script. A film cannot succeed if it has a weak script. The same happens with Ponyo. However, there are a few scenes which will capture the imagination of the audience. There is one scene in particular that deserves a special mention – the one in which Ponyo takes the human form and runs along a giant Tsunami – is simply stunning. However, we expected a lot of these from the person who pioneered Japanese animation.

Ponyo (voiced by Noah Cyrus) is a baby fish who lives with her father (Liam Neeson), a magical sea guardian. She decides to leave her father and home behind to explore more of the world. In her little adventures she falls into a trash and is swept ashore. She is picked up by Sosuke (Frankie Jonas), a five year old boy. The two becomes friendly and starts liking each other. One day, by accident, she tastes a drop of Sosuke’s blood and she get changed to a little girl. Her father makes all kind of attempts to stop the changes but fails in every effort. Ponyo, on the other hand, is determined and breaks free from all of them. She heads for the surface.

Nature started to act strange as soon as Ponyo headed towards the surface. The tides were rising and the moon was drawing surprisingly closer. The reasons are not known. The children will probably love Ponyo but I feel a sense of pity for the parents as it will be a real torture for them. There is always a ‘curse’ hanging over a sequel. They are usually duds at the box-office. But Ice Age movie seems to have broken the tradition. The animation is awe inspiring and a plethora of new characters. Now the directors in Hollywood will be more enthusiastic to bring out other sequels too. Ice Age is primarily a flick for the kids but the adults can enjoy it too.

The original star cast is retained – Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary), Ellie (Queen Latifah) and the lovable Sid (John Leguizamo). The third edition creates a spring feeling with love blossoming all around. This is a departure from the earlier episode where snows, ice and glacial meltdowns formed the backdrop of the movie. We find Manny pre-occupied with Ellie who is expecting their first baby. Diego – the sharp toothed tiger and Sid – the bumbling sloth getting very upset about the developments. Both of them feel that Manny is ignoring them. A despondent Diego decides to leave and Sid plans to start his own family.

Since Sid does not have a she-sloth to live with, he decides to raise three ‘abandoned’ eggs as his own. He was unaware of the fact that the eggs belonged to a T-Rex dinosaur. As soon as the babies hatch they display mammal eating tactics. The mother T-Rex arrives on the scene soon enough and grab hold of Sid and the babies by the neck and takes them to an underground world that is full of other dinosaurs, a weasel named Buck and several man-eating and dangerous plants.

The sequences that follow are predictable. Manny and other others run to save Sid. They enter the underground world which looks like a primitive rainforest. I guess the animators have a whale of a time here. The screen is filled with vibrant colors, lots of cuddly creatures, one-liners etc apart from the familiar scenes of balancing rocks and snow slides from the earlier versions of Ice Age movie.

Scrat, the squirrel, who runs after the subtle acorn is seen in this movie too. But we are introduced to a new character. A female squirrel, Scratte, is the worthy rival for the acorn and provides a romantic side too.

The animation detailing in Ice Age 3 will leave you spell bound. The colors, the character profiling and the comic scenes are so well depicted that you will have a hard time to even go for a drink in the middle of the movie. The mammoth looks awesome on the screen but the animated dinosaurs made us fell disappointed. They look fake but we have decided to ignore this little glitch.

On the other hand, Ira is impressed by George and ready to do his bidding and please him in every way possible.

The German director Ingo Rasper debuts with a comedy – Fashion Victims. The flick has already won many accolades including the prestigious Berlin and Beyond Festival’s first – feature prize. It has also won an audience prize at the Max Ophuls Festival. The plot revolves around a middle-aged status obsessed family and their upheavals with gay romance as a sub plot thrown in.

Edgar Selge plays the role of Wolfgang Zenker who lives in a provincial German community. He has been booked several times for over speeding. He also has a stay-at-home wife in Erika (Franziska Walser). Wolfgang earns his livelihood by selling drab clothes for middle aged women. Roman Knizka plays the role of Steven, the young salesman, who rivals Wolfgang with his collection of new fashion conscious clothes which becomes an instant hit with the people. This, no doubt, creates a problem for Wolfgang.

His son Karsten (Florian Batholomai) is all set to join a Spanish language summer school. His father Wolfgang is driving him to the airport when he is again pulled up for crossing the speed limit. Due to his repeated offences, he receives an immediate ban on driving. On his father’s insistence, Karsten is forced to stay at home and the sub plot takes shape from here.

Since he was now banned from driving, he asks his son to do the driving as he runs from shop to shop in despair. His fears are found to be true – almost all the shops have accepted the latest clothing from Steven and there is hardly any place for him to sell his stuff. The film moves into a sub plot when Karsten was sent to the run an errand to the nearby dry cleaners and he had a chance meeting with Steven. A romantic liaison developed between the two. Karsten had no idea that Steven was his dad’s nemesis. When he came to know about it he was in a dilemma. He cannot reveal his alternate sexuality neither can he make public his relationship with Steven. His mother Erika, meanwhile, is thinking of divorce while Wolfgang himself shows signs of despair.

The film does not have a tragic ending as expected. There is a hint of reconciliation at the end. Everybody essay his role to perfection. This is the hallmark of a good film and Fashion Victim movie is one such example. Edgar gives a stellar performance as a desperate salesman who is experiencing change of fortunes in a fashion conscious society. Walser as his wife is very convincing. Florian does justice to his role.

Fashion Victims movie has all the potential to set the cash registers ringing. But it remains to be seen whether there are any takers for this dark comedy. The cameraman needs to be applauded for his brilliant portrayals of the German provinces. The locale in which the film was shot is perfect.

There might not be a huge rush to watch the movie at theaters. But you need not worry about watching this movie at a theater when you can watch it right in your room. Horace Slughorn ( Jim Broadbent ), the former professor of portions, is the only one who knows Voldemort’s critical defences information because he had interviewed and taught Tom Riddle when he was sixteen years old. Dumbledore wants Harry to be the one to unlock this vital key while studying under Horace as he believes the information will prove to be vital. Though Professor Horace Slughorn is an old colleague of Dumbledore, he tries to manipulate him in to returning to his previous post by offering him more money and Harry Potter as his pupil.

Harry, Ron and Hermione find themselves in the same class in the portions. The book that Harry gets for referring too, for instructions used to belong to the Half Blood Prince. Through this Harry is able to gain new insights in to portions and becomes popular in class. Dumbledore starts to tutor Harry in private giving him access to Voldemort’s past, using his Pensieve memories. Harry has to however retrieve Tom Riddles past from Slughorn’s conversation with Voldemort ages ago. This will prove to be the vital key.

There is a different kind of threat that the school’s other students are facing, “The battle of the hormones”! Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) and Harry begin to realize that their friendship runs a lot deeper, but Ginny’s boyfriend and Ron get in their way, forcing Harry to control his attraction levels. Ron wants to prove that he knows what it is like to be in love and gets romantically involved with Lavender Brown (Jessie Cave) leaving Hermione seething with jealousy which she tries hard to conceal.

During all this a box of love portion chocolates finds it’s way in to the wrong hands changing everything. Only one student is unaffected by all the romance that is blossoming around. This student has only a dark aim in mind. Despite the love, tragedy is just round the corner at Hogwarts. This tragedy is going to be a turning point. Nothing will remain the same after this. The Ugly Truth was released amidst great fanfare. The advertisers took great care to keep the movie in the spot light for a long time. Unfortunately though, the movie itself didn’t do very well thanks to the very bizarre rezoning that it carried with it.

The reasoning was related to how a woman should be in order to bag the guy she likes. The movie conveys a point saying that women should not be on the top when it comes to money making or must not even look well turned out when it comes to looks in comparison to the guy they are wooing. The girl should not even try to be aloof is one more of the points they put forth.

To be able to get this man into your arms, you can’t dare earn more than what he is managing at the moment and it’s a complete no-no to be a little wiser than what he is. If you can manage it, a slutty attitude is a turn on to him and what does him in is the inner tramp that you will let loose.

If you have read so far, you have watched the entire movie. It definitely looks like the writers have living in a different century altogether. The script was written by three ladies. Unfortunately for the ladies, the movie has just not seemed to do anything at the box office and did you know that Katherine Heigl is not only the lead but also one of the producers of the movie!

Abby (Katherine Heigl) produces a show on TV. She is put into a situation where she cannot avoid but will have to compete with Mike (Gerard Butler). Now Mike is supposed to have a very low opinion of women but he features in a part of Abby’s show giving advice on relationships. The shows TRP is obviously going through the roof because of his excellent advice. The old formula of making the lead pair hate each other has also been used in this movie.

In case you are going to see the bonding between both the stars, there is nothing to there to see. There is absolutely no chemistry. Mike’s dialogues seem pointless and many of his dialogues which are meant to be funny will only extract a groan from you.

The Hangover by Todd Philips is one of those de-refined comedies that will have you in splits. This one is about a bachelor party going wrong. Though the theme of the film might not be original for you, yet it is one of the better films of the decade.

The film is about three friends who take their friend to a bachelor party. This friend is soon going to be married. They had a real wild night after which they wake up next morning in the hotel suite, each one forgetting what has happened the previous night. They find a tiger in the bathroom, a baby in the closet and surprisingly, the groom is missing.

If this problem was not enough, they have a couple of other problems too. They have a baby in the closet and a tiger in the bathroom and they don’t remember a thing from the previous night. Then the real fun starts as the three guys began to follow a series of trails in the faint hope of remembering the sequence of events the previous night. After all they need the groom before the marriage starts!

Among the star cast special mention must be made of Bradley Cooper who plays the role of Phil, the married school teacher. He makes full use of the opportunity and delivers a powerhouse performance. Zach plays Alan, the future brother-in-law and is funny in parts. Ed Helms as Stu almost steals the show single handedly as the dentist who fears his girlfriend a lot. In fact he gets married to the stripper on that night. The role of the stripper is aptly played by Heather Grahams. Rachel Harris as Stu’s girlfriend is also competent in her role. Justin Bartha as the missing groom is also convincing in his role. And we have a surprise! Mike Tyson has a short role here as himself. To sum it up, each one of the cast gives a good performance which makes this movie all the more stunning.

The Hangover is a major success mainly because of the fact that the lead actors share an onscreen chemistry which is never seen before. Of the three friends Bradley Cooper is Phil, the married school teacher; Ed Helms (stu) is the dentist who is always terrified of his girlfriend and Zach Galifianakis plays Alan, the groom’s future brother – in – law. These three gives some of the best moments in this hilarious film. Justin Bartha plays the groom who is missing in action. Heather Graham is the stripper whom Ed Helms married on that fateful night.

The film is a bit rowdy and salacious but it is really a funny film which makes you laugh through out the entire running time. So if you do not feel embarrassed by the saucy jokes then The Hangover is the film for you. It has enough material to laugh its way to the bank as it sets the cash registers ringing. After a streak of below average animation movies Walt Disney was looking for a stroke of brilliance from its creators. The king’s attitude and the longing for her prince charming leaves Ariel devastated and she is willing to do anything to be with the prince. That’s when Ursula the sea witch let’s Ariel know that she can help Ariel in ways that will make her happy.

Ursula’s deepest desire is to conquer the underwater world and she wants to use Ariel to do so. She promises to make Ariel into a human for three days during which Ariel has to get her true love’s kiss. But in the bargain she takes away Ariel’s voice and the task which looked so easy at first now seems very difficult.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie by Tim Burton is an adaptation of the 1964 book by the renowned author Roald Dahl. The film is a fantasy one and is meant mainly for the children and young adults. It stars Freddie Highmore and Johnny Depp as Charlie Bucket and Willy Wonka respectively.

Charlie was really lucky as he found the fifth ticket in one of the Wonka bars. He chose his Grandpa Joe to be with him inside the factory. Joe used to work with the factory before it hit rough weather. So the four winners, Charlie and Grandpa Joe enter the factory for the journey of a lifetime.

Charlie was pretty well behaved throughout the tour but the same cannot be said of the other children. They were very naughty and the inevitable happened. Those four were politely shown the door by Willy and Charlie became the winner of the surprise prize – they keys to the chocolate factory. Initially Charlie refused the prize as he was not in favor of staying separate from his family. Wonka too understood how he himself has missed his family while he was too busy with the chocolate factory. He understood that Charlie is the right person to take care of the chocolate factory. On realizing this he allowed Charlie to bring his entire family inside the premises. So we get a wonderful story with a very happy ending.

The film is a must watch for all children. They will simply love the colorful and youthful look of the film. The director Tim Burton does a wonderful job with this film but the 2005 editions definitely a bit darker than the original flick. The puppet show at the start of the tour of the factory suddenly catches fire. This scene is a bit unnecessary. Secondly, kids might get frightened by the scary music and the vivid scenes depicting the children’s exploits inside the factory.

Among the performances, the less said about Johnny Depp the better. Is he the same Johnny from the Pirates of the Caribbean series? His acting so pathetic that you may be tempted to think that he was not paid at all for this movie! Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket, however, proves a better actor than Depp, at least in this movie.

Claudy’s daily needs are on the rise taking their toll on Lorna who is desperate and lonely. Her dreams are the only thing that she has to look forward to at this point. A chance meeting with Fabio (Fabrizio Rongione), a Russian gangster, during this time changes things because he brainwashes Lorna to use Claudy till she gets her Belgium passport and then to do away with Claudy by making it look like a drug overdose case. He proposes that Lorna get married to him after that so that he too could get a Belgium passport. He assures Lorna that is she agrees she will be handsomely rewarded.

Lorna agrees to play along but has other plans. She believes that she will be able to divorce Claudy if she speeds up the proceedings of the divorce, marry the Russian gangster, earn her money and then buy her snack bar without getting Claudy killed. Claudy on the other hand is aware of Lorna’s plan of getting her Belgium passport and then wanting to divorce him but knows nothing about her mob connections and agreement.

Lorna continues to play along from day to day with situations until a day when things make herv stop and think twice because of a certain series of events that unexpectedly take place. She stops to re-examine her path. The flame of humanity is lit in her. This drives her in to seeking comfort from a strange doctor and a nurse where she reveals to them how she inflicts wounds on herself to prove that her husband is physically abusing her so that the divorce is processed quickly.

Mulan directed by Tony Bancroft is a Walt Disney productions’ animated feature film. The week in which it was released the film was declared as the second highest grosser just behind The X – Files. It was awarded a number of prizes including the Golden Globe Award for the Best Original Score.

Mulan is bunglesome young girl who defends her homeland, China by cross dressing. The story is that Huns have attacked China and one member of the Chinese family must go to war to fight for his motherland. Mulan’s father decides to go to war to protect his family’s respect. But he is too old and death is imminent if he takes part in the battle. Sensing this Mulan, his daughter, cuts off her hair and sneaks out in the middle of the night to join the Chinese army. In order to protect his little daughter, her father prays to the ancestors to protect her in the journey and to provide her with some luck. The ancestors sent Mushu, a small dragon for her protection in the war.

Mushu, a dragon, was sent by Mulan’s ancestors to assist her in the quest. She underwent a tough training but emerged successful. She was now on her way up the hills to confront the Huns. During the course of the war Mulan’s secret identity gets exposed and everyone realized she is ‘just’ a girl. But Mulan is strong-minded and fights on to protect China.

The film has some really nice voices going for but it fails to connect with the audiences. Eddie Murphy as Mushu is probably the only saving grace in the film. The character of Mulan sometimes gets overshadowed by some unnecessary sequences or characters which could have been dispensed with. Though Eddie Murphy does well in the voice of Mushu, one just feels that perhaps this character is the worst sidekick in a Disney animation film. It is a dismal film and is not worthy of a fair run at the box office.

There are a couple of scenes in Mulan which is totally uncalled for in a Disney flick. First, Mulan gapes at the bare – chested Captain in the training camp. Secondly, there is a bathing scene involving Mulan which could have been more aesthetically shot. Above all this, there are lots of bosom and cleavage jokes. These all could have been avoided in a film meant for children.

Though the film falls below expectations yet there is one area where it scores good brownie points and that is – design. There is a large influence of traditional Chinese art in the movie and is evident in almost every frame. The colors are used intelligently in the film and never does it feel that it is either too strong or too subtle. In fact, the horses in the film look brilliant and life-like. Good work really!

The three girls have their share of aspirations and ambitions – Pauline aspires to become an actress, Petrova wants to fly airplanes and Posy harbors hopes of becoming a ballet dancer.

The trio was dependant on Gum for their livelihood. So when Gum leaves for one of his explorations the cash in hand dries up and they begin to face the harsh reality. They learnt to balance their personal goals and the demand to survive financially and physically. No doubt, these hardships drain them emotionally.

As the real story of the movie unfolds, we find the three girls living with their guardian and niece Sylvia Brown (Emilia Fox). As the cash flow begins to tighten up, they have three boarders who come to stay with them. These three were a garage owner, a retired English Professor and a dance teacher. Mr. Simpson (Marc Warren), the garage owner, has a sorry past and a keen interest in cars and airplanes. Petrova becomes friendly with him and gradually learns that her talent lies in fixing engines. Theo Dane (Lucy Cohu) was the dance teacher who somehow managed to coax her school to admit the three girls. The trio goes on stage to raise the much needed money. In the course of the movie each of the girls discovers their true talents – Pauline excels as an actress, Posy becomes a dancer and Petrova starts fixing engines.

The film is a charming flick with a beautiful screenplay by Heidi Thomas. The film has a happy ending but is free from any clichs or unnecessary mushiness that is very prevalent in such family dramas.

The entire star cast delivers wonderful performances. Emilia Fox as the selfless niece delivers a sweet performance and almost single handedly moves the film forward. The performance of the three girls is endearing. Emma Watson as Pauline proves that she is an actress to reckon with. I hope she gets good roles after this. Yasmin Paige is a future star as she essays the role of Petrova with relative ease. Lucy Boynton as Posy is very lively and brings life to her character. You need to watch the movie to see how beautifully she has enacted the scenes with her Russian dance instructor.

Ballet Shoes is a clean movie and can be enjoyed the whole family. However, it is a real pity that the film was never released in theaters nor shown on HBO. But you need not despair. The reserved Stitzer is asked over by his colleagues at the electronics’ store to a night of poker. He stuns them with his prowess, developed by playing poker online.

The movie is based on Iranian war. No it is not about politics or any bad politician; it is actually based on the American living in Iran. It could have easily been shot at any other location as well. The film tries to show the daily feelings that an American living there goes through, It is not longer about why are they there or how are they going to leave. It’s a new side to their story. The story also tries very hard to high light the fact that the cost of living is ever increasing and hence living in such a country may be a very difficult task for anyone.

The movie come straight to the point starts off with the first scene itself describing a very intimidating scene. The first scene itself introduces the main actors to the public as they try to dispose a bomb. The actors are in a bomb disposal unit of a company called Bravo. Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) is what these professionals have been trained in. Sgt. Thompson (Guy Pearce) leads the disposal team and he does nothing but throw his weight around. Sanborn played by Anthony Mackie comes to be known as an alert team member while Elderidge played by Brian Geraghty is just a new member on the team. This very scene tells us what to prepare for the rest of the movie.

Later in the movie Sgt. James takes the place of Sgt. Thompson and suddenly Sgt. Thompson looks nothing but a scared and nervous person. On the flip side Sgt. James throws caution to the wind and implements his own standards of safety that he had learnt through his experience. Sanborn and Elderidge succumb to his attitude.

Incidents keep taking place as the movie keep on. All the incidents are somehow a depiction of the first scene itself. All in all in the end the director is only trying to get us to know what is going on in James’ head and why is he always trying to run behind danger?

The suspense is good and the story line is also quite good. The only part where the movie would lose out on is the ending. The ending was totally uncreative and stupid. Instead of the two speeches that were given there should have been something more relevant to the story shown before that.
